The Grass is Always

Time and time my thoughts conspire

beneath a dark and furrowed brow

to leave this grass for grasses greener

though here I smile and seldom frown.

But when I’ve left my fading pasture

retrospection comes around

reminding me that life’s reflection

leaves the flaws the present found.

And when I reach my destination

with glowing gold horizon’s light –

in mourning friends left far behind me

vibrant greens are blighted brown.

Places change with changing times, change is good but also sad

Since love for me is love of people despite the color of the ground.
